In a separate post, I wrote about achieving perfect pronunciation, I mentioned an exercise whereby you record yourself saying specific words and then compare it to native speaker saying the same words. It doesn’t really make intuitive sense that your ability to say something correctly impacts your ability to understand something. I was one of them, and was skeptical that what I’m about to tell you was true until I experienced it for myself. But if you are having conversations, more listening isn’t going to help you. And of course, if you aren’t having regular conversations, that’s part of it. The typical diagnostic for this is just to do more listening practice.
